Offers Capabilities to Produce Custom, Engineered Wood Floors Meeting IAQ Criteria
Dallas, Texas (February 9, 2016) – Woodwright Hardwood Floor Company, a Dallas-based luxury wood flooring contractor, is pleased to announce they have earned the FloorScore® certification through SCS Global Services for a majority of their custom, engineered wood flooring products.
The FloorScore® certification includes unfinished, shop finished and site finished wood flooring. In addition to meeting the FloorScore® criteria, the company also has the ability to provide many of the wood flooring species as an FSC® certified product.
“We are very excited to have the ability to offer our clients the opportunity to design and craft a 100% custom engineered wood floor that meets the FloorScore® criteria” said Rick Farrell, Architect + Design Consultant for Woodwright. “Not only can we offer a product that meets the criteria for Indoor Air Quality, we can also offer it as FSC®. We are confident that these certifications will be a great benefit to our clients pursuing LEED criteria.”
“Our company has always been driven to provide environmentally friendly and healthy wood flooring products,” said James Colten, COO of Woodwright. “Our first commitment came in the form of receiving our FSC® certification in 2008. The next logical step was to pursue the FloorScore® certification on our engineered wood flooring. We are thrilled about reaching this elite status and look forward to further serving our clients’ needs for the highest quality, aesthetically pleasing wood floors.”

Contributors to poor indoor air quality include inadequate ventilation, poor cleaning, and/or excessive emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Because people now spend 90% of their time indoors, breathing poor quality air increases the risk for a variety of health concerns.
While industry insiders know that LEED certification has become the standard for environmentally safe projects, FloorScore® has also become the standard for hard surface flooring for meeting stringent indoor air quality requirements. Developed by the Resilient Floor Covering Institute (RFCI), hard surface flooring and adhesive products are now rigorously tested and independently verified by SCS Global Services, an independent 3rd party certification organization, for compliance with the VOC emissions criteria of California Section 01350. FloorScore® measures the most important risk to indoor air quality, the emission levels of specific VOCs found in flooring products. A FloorScore® certification means that the product actually contributes to good indoor air quality. To learn more about FloorScore®, please visit www.rfci.com.
