To create the look of floating solid treads we installed 2 pieces shop-finished hollow box treads in multiple staircases on this gorgeous campus. The plinths and landings were solid matchings nosing backfilled with a custom shop finished flooring. We also clad multiple benches and desks in a variety of locations throughout the 3 buildings using the same install method as cladding a plinth. In addition to standard staircases, the student union is home to a massive social seating/stair combo with integrated lighting creating a true focal gathering area for the students. Each building also had its own 3D Pecan wall with integrated colored glass accents. It’s projects like this (ones with lots of wood, yet no wood flooring) that caused Woodwright to remove the “hardwood floor company” from our Logo and simply be referred to as Woodwright. We do a lot more than just wood floors.
